"They are very independent", this is how the Australian team, "Hockeyroos", was qualified at the hotel. As soon as Soledad Serafino, one of the hotel's recepcionists, says so,the elevator's doors open and three girls appear with laundry bags. "They prefer to look and walk, they almost do not accept our indications about how to reach a place or something. They are very kind and friendly", she adds.
By the morning they trained at the stadium and at around 10.30 they were back at the hotel. Until lunch time they had time to rest or walk around. Besides laundry, some of them decided to go to a supermarket located at 25 de Mayo street. Kate Starre, team manager, confirmed that they have anything scheduled, but lunch at the Amerian hotel.
On Monday, a group decided to eat a good "asado" (barbecue) at a restaurant located at Laprida street; the rest stayed at the hotel. Earlier in the morning, around 11, they trained at Lawn Tennis Club' s gym and enjoyed the swimming pool. Some of the players took pictures, that posted on Twitter. "Hockeyroos" girls assure that high temperatures are not a problem. Team trains at Pearl (distant 93 km from Sydney, at New South Wales State), a paradise with beaches and hot weather.
Australian team is integrated by 26 people: 18 players, a psycologist, a physiotherapist, a manager, a coach and assistants. At the hotel they occupied 12 suites and 2 single rooms, one for the coach, Adams Commens, and the other prepared by the physiotherapist for massages, with a litter she brought herself. "They are very kind and didn't ask for excentric things. We prepared several areas at the hotel exclusively for them", told Esteban Asaf, Amerian hotel's manager.
Today lunch menu was very healthy and sportive: chicken marmicot, sauted meat with vegetables, natural rice and three kinds of salads: beans, tomato, lettuce with boiled eggs, beet roots and grated carrots. For desserts, fresh fruits. They have to eat light because at 15.30 they will play a friendly match.
While the world tournment is on, a 911 patrol with 5 agents will guard the moment the players go up and down the bus at the hotel door. They are organised in three turns to cover 24 hours. "We don't have to follow them, we just keep an eye on them while they are at the hotel door with their bags and stuff", they explained.
After the friendly match, schedule is open, although some of them said that most probably they would go back to the hotel to rest, and after dinner they would go to sleep. But it is known that these girls, out of the field, like independence and discover cities that they visit by their own.
